Why We Built HeyRobyn: The Unified Inbox Problem Nobody Is Solving
TL;DR: Tomorrow (March 10, 2026) we're launching HeyRobyn—a native Mac unified inbox for email, Slack, and GitHub. Here's why we built it, what makes it different, and how to get early access.
The Problem: You're Drowning in Tabs
If you're a developer, product manager, or startup founder, you probably have:
- 5+ email accounts (work Gmail, personal, client accounts)
- 3+ Slack workspaces (company, side projects, communities)
- GitHub notifications that you miss because they're buried in email
And you're managing all of this across 15+ browser tabs, 3 different apps, and constant context switching.
Sound familiar?
I counted my own setup last week:
- 7 Gmail tabs
- 4 Slack workspaces (3 in browser, 1 in desktop app)
- GitHub notifications turned off because they were overwhelming
- 2 separate email clients I tried and abandoned
Every time I switched between them, I lost focus. Every notification pulled me in a different direction. And I was paying $30/month for Superhuman, which only solved email.
The Solution Nobody Built (Until Now)
Here's what we wanted:
- One window for email, Slack, and GitHub
- Native Mac app (not Electron, not web-based)
- Privacy-first (no cloud sync of your messages)
- Keyboard-first (Cmd+K to go anywhere)
- Fair pricing (not $30/month)
We looked at every unified inbox solution:
- Texts, Beeper, Sunbird → Great for iMessage/WhatsApp, but no email or GitHub
- Superhuman, Spark, Mimestream → Email only
- Shift, Wavebox, Station → Just Chrome with a sidebar (Electron bloat)
- Missive, Spike → Web-based, clunky UX, expensive
Nobody was solving the developer/PM use case.
So we built HeyRobyn.
What Makes HeyRobyn Different
1. Built for macOS (Not the Web)
HeyRobyn is a true native Mac app—SwiftUI, optimized for M1/M2, feels like Mail.app or Things 3. Not an Electron wrapper, not a glorified browser tab.
Why it matters: Native apps are faster, use less battery, and feel like part of your Mac. No browser overhead, no web app lag.
2. Email + Slack + GitHub in One Unified View
All your inboxes in a single, prioritized stream:
- Urgent Slack DMs at the top
- GitHub PR reviews next
- Non-urgent email at the bottom
You decide the priority rules. HeyRobyn executes them.
3. Privacy-First Design
Your messages stay on your device. No cloud sync by default. OAuth tokens stored in macOS Keychain. We can't read your messages even if we wanted to.
Contrast with: Most unified inbox apps sync everything to their servers (ostensibly for "AI features"). We don't.
4. Keyboard-First Workflow
Cmd+K→ Go to any conversation instantlyCmd+N→ New message (email, Slack, GitHub comment)E→ Archive/mark doneJ/K→ Navigate like Vim
Built for people who hate using the mouse.
5. Fair, Transparent Pricing
We're targeting $15-20/month for unlimited accounts. No $30/month tier for "pro features." No artificial limits.
Early access users get:
- 1 month free trial
- 50% off first year
- Locked-in pricing forever (no annual increases)
The Launch: March 10, 2026
We're launching tomorrow at 12:00 UTC (7am EST, 4am PST) on Product Hunt, Reddit, and Hacker News.
Early access opens at the same time. First 500 users get priority onboarding + lifetime 50% discount.

Join the Waitlist →Why Now? Why This?
Because nobody else is solving this problem for Mac users.
- Superhuman raised $150M and only does email
- Shift/Wavebox are Electron wrappers selling for $120/year
- Texts/Beeper focus on personal messaging (WhatsApp, iMessage)
There's a gap.
Developers, PMs, and startup founders need a unified inbox that includes email, Slack, and GitHub. Native. Fast. Private. Affordable.
That's HeyRobyn.
See You Tomorrow
We're launching in less than 24 hours.
